Ivan's old PC
- Old graphics card.
- More likely to struggle in newer games.
- Probably louder, hotter, and moodier.
- More “please lower your settings” energy.
- Feels like it needs a pep talk before launching games.
Here is the easy version. Your old PC has a GTX 970. That graphics card came out in 2014. The newer RTX 4060 is much newer, much faster, uses less power, and comes in Walmart gaming desktops right now. In plain English: new PC go zoom, old PC go wheeze.
Walmart currently lists gaming desktops with an RTX 4060, modern CPUs, 16GB RAM, and 1TB NVMe SSD storage. That means you do not need to build a spaceship in your garage. You can just buy the better thing.
No scary jargon. No nerd essay. Just quick reasons why the old machine should be retired with honors and a folded flag.
Not “a little” faster. More like “why did I wait this long” faster.
That is not old in dog years. That is old in technology years, which are much meaner.
New games eat hardware for breakfast. Your GTX 970 is bringing crackers.
More graphics memory means fewer sad moments, fewer stutters, and less "why does this look weird?"
Modern Walmart desktops usually have a 1TB NVMe SSD, which means less waiting and less staring at loading bars like a lost Victorian child.
This is one of those rare times where the explanation is exactly that simple.
Less heat is good. Less heat means less fan screaming. Less fan screaming means peace.
The RTX 4060 can use less power than the GTX 970 while still being much faster. That is called bullying your ancestor.
Better settings. Better effects. Less “everything is on medium because I am surviving.”
Discord, browser tabs, game launcher, updates, random background junk. A newer PC handles the circus better.
You can spend less time acting like an unpaid IT department for your own entertainment.
Buying a complete modern desktop is easier than slowly rebuilding an ancient machine like a cursed ship in a bottle.
The old PC is trying to survive today's games. The new one is actually ready for tomorrow's nonsense too.
If Ivan wants clips, streams, or bragging rights, newer Nvidia hardware helps a lot.
Modern SSD plus newer parts equals less time waiting for your computer to spiritually wake up.
It had a great run. We thank it for its service. Then we let it rest.
You do not need to compare fifty mystery parts. The better machine is already assembled.
Many Walmart systems come with 16GB RAM, which is computer language for “stop gasping so much.”
Replacing the whole old platform fixes more problems than tossing one part into the void and hoping.
You are trying to game in 2026 with a GTX 970. Be serious for five minutes.
These videos show the performance gap and explain modern features in a more obvious way than me yelling “new thing better” for 20 straight sections.
This is the part where the old GPU gets put on a nature documentary voice-over.
This explains why newer cards have more tricks, while the GTX 970 mostly has memories.
Walmart already has desktops with RTX 4060 graphics, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD storage. Your current card is old enough to have life experience. Buy the new PC, enjoy smoother games, and stop treating your ancient rig like it still has one more anime power-up left.
